Experience miniature-Koli on the Kohtavaara

The guided tour includes a walk around the Kohtavaara nature and history trail and a visit to learn about the history of the settlement. The walk takes you to the peace and quiet of the forest and to the observation tower, from where you can enjoy a miniature-island view of northern Pielise and the foundations of the Sarkkinen Kohtavaara farm, which once stood at the top of the dike.

Along the route there are information boards with information about the history and nature of the area. The boards also have QR codes that you can use to find more information on your smartphone. “Paavo’s steps”, “Helvi’s breathing bench” and a rope installed at a steep point make the ascent easier. The distance to the Toivon Tower is 400 metres and the ascent is about 80 metres. The easier route to the tower is 1.2 kilometres. The total length of the path is 2.4 km.
