Mujejärvi

The idyllic landscape of Lake Mujejärvi with its numerous small lakes offers a setting for you who want to relax in the middle of everyday life. In the fairytale area of Salomaa you can listen to the cuckoo’s call in the old forest and breathe in its serenity. Lake Mujejärvi also offers you the opportunity to stay overnight in the lap of nature, either in a lodge, a deserted cabin or a rented cabin. If you want to test your fitness, you can of course challenge yourself to a duel on the slopes of the area’s rugged gorge valley. You can also go canoeing in the area and meet the lake’s many inhabitants, including a pair of swans.

You can explore the fabulous Lake Mujejärvi area from many angles, and take several days of short hikes through its beautiful landscape of cliffs, ridges and lakes. On your hike, head especially to the western part of the area to see the almost four-kilometre-long and in places steep-walled Ural Ridge – a natural wonder you can’t miss!

There are about 30 kilometres of marked trails in the area and two ring trails. Lake Mujejärvi is 40 kilometres from Nurmes. You can also combine the Peurajärvi trails, which are in the same direction, with the hiking weekend.
