Traditional farm in the upper courtyard

Dating back to the 17th century, the Upper Courtyard estate is set in a stunning landscape of rolling hills. In the beautiful cultural environment and the traditional courtyard, you can discover the life of the past in the old buildings, relax in the summer café and visit the charming house museum and farmhouse gallery. You can also find all sorts of treasures in the farm’s charming flea market, either as souvenirs or as gifts for friends. Near the upper courtyard is the Vastasmännikö ancient cemetery and the Itkukivi, where you can find signposts from the Peri-Sivakantie. Visit the Murtovaara House Museum at the same time.

Please note that the Upper Courtyard is only open during the summer. During the summer, guided tours of the farm’s history are organised, which will tell you a unique story about life in the past in the heart of the Karelian countryside!

The café building in the upper courtyard is accessible and parking is available right next to it. Guide dogs are welcome on the farm.

Pihan pyrähys – On a guided tour of the Upper Yard farm, you will peek into the buildings of the traditional farm, hear fascinating stories about the history of the old family farm and admire the beautiful North Karelian landscape. Finally, we’ll enjoy traditional bottle coffee in the birch house. Guided tours from June to August on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 13:00. Price 10€/adults, children 6-12 years 5€, under 4 years free of charge. Includes a guided tour and a coffee or tea with home-made pastries.
